LIVEABLE URBANISM

Cities occupy just 3% of the world's landmass, yet are home to some 50% of the global population and growing. Finding solutions to urban issues in quality of life, public wellbeing, the economy and the environment are critical to creating a more liveable human habitat for the future.elsh School of Architecture

This year, BSC and MArch Students are collaborating once again, this time conducting our research in Thrissur, Kerala, South India. In collaboration with KILA (Kerala Institute for Local Administration), the Thrissur Corporation and Kerala Government, we will be conducting our field work and data collection in January 2025.

We will spend 11 days in Thrissur and visit 7 other cities along the way to develop a deeper understanding of Indian cities and architecture: Delhi, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Kolkata, Trivandrum and finally Ahmedabad.

With a grounding of integrated research, mapping and literature, students will develop their urban strategies and spatial design proposals with the aim of improving the liveability of Thrissur city.
